Palomar College, spread over 200 acres in the center of San Marcos, was established in 1946 and sits just across state Route 78 from California State University, San Marcos. Palomar enrolls nearly 30,000 full-time and part-time students each semester. Students can choose from more than 250 associate degree and certificate programs, and the college offers several options for students wishing to transfer to a four-year college or university. Palomar College also has five education sites throughout north San Diego County, the largest of which is located in Escondido. Other education sites are at Camp Pendleton, Mt. Carmel High School, Fallbrook High School, and Pauma.
