Local Community Colleges Receiving More Than $16.5 Million for Job Training Programs

Community colleges in San Diego and Imperial counties will soon see more than $16.5 million in state funding to help them close the skills gap.

Preliminary allocation was made July 31, with final approval reached at the September 19 meeting of the California Community Colleges Board of Governors. Community colleges will collaborate with their educational, workforce, labor, and civic partners in expanding access to career technical education programs that meet workforce needs.

150,000 Students to Take Classes This Fall at San Diego and Imperial County Community Colleges

Our region’s largest provider of higher education will welcome nearly 150,000 students to the 2016-17 academic year on August 22 at San Diego’s nine community colleges, and August 15 at Imperial Valley College.

SDICCCA meets with UC president, UC San Diego chancellor

On June 6, representatives from the San Diego & Imperial Counties Community Colleges Association (SDICCCA) met with University of California President Janet Napolitano and UC San Diego Chancellor Pradeep Khosla at the County Office of Education in Linda Vista. President Napolitano emphasized the UC’s commitment to partnership with California’s 113 community colleges.
